Description

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

“Really, Dinah ought to have taught you better manners! You ought, Dinah, you know you ought!”

~ Alice to Dinah

In the book, Dinah appears in the first four chapters. She is not physically present, but Alice talks to her many times, and mentions her frequently to Wonderland residents. When Alice describes Dinah's hunting skills to the animals in the Caucus Race, they become very uncomfortable.

Alice in Wonderland (1951)

“In my world, you wouldn't say 'meow'. You'd say 'Yes, miss Alice'.”

~ Alice to Dinah

In the 1951 film, Dinah is first seen sitting with Alice on a tree and listening to Alice's older sister reading from a history book. Both Dinah and Alice spot a white rabbit wearing a waistcoat and trousers and carrying a pocket watch running by. Wanting to find out where the rabbit is going, they chase after him. Soon after that Alice falls down the rabbit hole and waves goodbye to Dinah who almost falls down the rabbit hole as well. Dinah is finally seen again in the end of the movie where Alice and Dinah wake up from the strange Wonderland dream and goes home for tea with Dinah and her older sister.
